national week of ocean
April third week is celebrated as the NATIONAL WEEK OF OCEANS.
It is the 27th annual week focussing on humanity's interdependence with the ocean, asking each of us to appreciate, protect and make wise use of the ocean.
The main purpose is to save oceans for our future generations.
WHY WE SHOULD CONSERVE THEM?
For starters ocean covers about two third of the earth surface and helps to create the atmosphere in which plants ,humans and animals can live. They are the planet's life support system ,consuming carbon dioxide and producing between one third nad one half of the earth's oxygen .
Secondly these great bodies of water impact our weather and climate.
Finally as homes to thousands of species of fishes and invertebrates ,oceans provide an important part of the global foodchain. Both marine mammals and humans depend on healthy fishes and healthy fishes on healthy oceans for food.
Unless the oceans remain healthy whales, dolphins and other marine animals and even people will not survive.
HOW TO CONSERVE IT?
Perhaps the most easiest things that we can all do is to never dump anything into waterways-drains or rivers because whatever we trash in these waterways will eventually end up in the sea or ocean.
